**\[00:00\]** **Sean:** Hi, this is Sean, one of your regular co-hosts here on the website 101 Podcasts. Today, I want to introduce you to an episode of another podcast that recently interviewed me. And in this interview, we kind of cover my history of going from a hobbyist to a full-time professional, and as well as some of my thoughts and experiences working in Expression Engine in Crafts CMS and the industry as a whole over the years. Following this, we have a short snippet of the episode titled The Joy of Self-Talk Coding. Follow the link in the show notes to craftentries.io where you can listen to the full length episode. And we're looking

**\[00:49\]** **Thomas:** forward to seeing you again in the fall. You liked coding?

**\[00:57\]** **Sean:** Yeah.

**\[00:58\]** **Thomas:** And what did you like the most, the problem solving or building stuff?

**\[01:04\]** **Sean:** Actually, kind of both. Sometimes the problem solving would really frustrate me.

When it first started out, when I was more focused on my blog, it was more about the about building and getting something to work. So I did a lot of copy pasting. Somebody would like, oh, how do I do this? And they explain it or they'd link to somewhere and I'd just copy and paste their code and I'd be done with it.

I'm sure if we look at all your own older sites, you kind of cringe. Well, yeah, I would also cringe at what I did at that time.

But over time, I started learning and seeing the patterns patterns and understanding how to properly troubleshoot or use the console, getting into more advanced problems. But initially, it was just the thrill of, hey, I built this. Even though most of it was copy-paste from various sources and it turned into this Frankenstein code project that turned them into my blog, but yeah, it was lots of fun.

**\[02:12\]** **Thomas:** you still enjoy the coding part after 15 years or so.

**\[02:17\]** **Sean:** Yeah, so that was 2005, where I started to really get into the code. So I guess it's been almost 20 years.

**\[02:24\]** **Thomas:** 20, yeah.
